well i just got the album a few days ago, these are my impressions of it so far-
there seems to be a overall "urgency" to this record yet it still remains reasonably laid back in its delivery, if you discovered this album through the "give em the boot" compilations you are in to somthing a little diffrent than you might expect, this is not a straight up skacore or skapunk album, but more of a jamican rythem in general, but the manner in which it is all put together gives mouthwash a pretty unique sound. This is though a punk album and that comes across pretty clear...but its a intresting one...well worth checking out particulary if you are already fans of bands like common rider...

Just met these guys at McDonalds (as they call it, Mac-Donals), and they are definitely a cool group. My buddies and I are checking them out tomorrow night live. I'm definitely picking up the CD, and I've already got a few songs that are unbelievable. This is the next generation of ska/punk.

I first heard "Fools Gold" on Give Em The Boot 2 compilation, and I looked up Mouthwash on Epitaph's website. I was mad because the album didn't come out for 5 months. I couldn't find it at many places, and I don't like ordering online. Then one day I was at Best Buy, and I saw it right next to a Rancid cd. Quickly, I picked it up, bought it, and listened to it on my walkman. I was a little disappointed at first. I waited 5 months for this, and I didn't like it. I listened to it the next day, and I totally fell in love. Songs like "Drop the Bomb" and "Competing For Frequency" are straight up punk, while "We Evolve" and "Babylondon" are ska with a little bit of reggae influences. These guys are original and I can't wait for their next album to come out. I'm not comparing them to anyone, because they have a style of their own, but if you like Rancid, Against All Authority (their earlier ska stuff) or Choking Victim, pick this cd up.

When visiting the Epitaph records website, i saw a link to the song "Fools Gold." I checked it out and was immediately hooked. This record is full of good songs. Some are of the ska/reggae variety, such as "We Evolve," "Fools Gold," and "Babylondon." There are also some killer songs that would qualify as straight-up punk, such as "Drop the Bomb," "Competing for Frequency," and "Neon Heartbeat." Check this out if you're into Operation Ivy or early Suicide Machines. My only beef with this record is that all songs, except for 9 and 11, have the same structure: verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. Can't wait for these guys next album.

Mouthwash was featured on the Hellcat Records complilation "Give 'Em The Boot,Vol.2" and ever since then I have been waiting for a full length album. The CD 1,000 Dreams was well worth the wait. The album has plenty of good punk songs like "Drop The Bomb" and "One For Sorrow". There is also some ska influenced songs like "Fool's Gold","Live Like Kings" and "We Evolve". Overall "1,000 Dreams" has plenty of variety that should appeal to ska/punk fans everywhere.
